England vs West Indies T20 World Cup 2016 Match Highlights.

Toss – West Indies won the toss, opted to bowl first.

1st Innings – England were blown away in the early part of their innings. By straight leg-spinners. By filthy leg-side balls. By untimely aggressive strokeplay. And by Champion jigs. On a sparkling evening where the Kolkata crowd overwhelmed with their presence, Darren Sammy won an unprecedented 10th toss in a row and stuck to his mantra of bowling first. It didn’t take long for Roy to give a masterclass on how to make a straight ball look unplayable as Badree slid one through his defences in the very first over. Hales’s stay didn’t have much longevity too as he found himself hurling a spew of curses, for hitting a filthy ball straight to short fine. Morgan came. Morgan went, as Badree kept doing his thing. Then there came a period where you felt England might put up something competitive with Root and Buttler rallying strongly. Root sizzled with a half-century and Buttler struck some lusty blows too. But another ill-timed spate of wickets halted the English charge.

2nd Innings – England didn’t leave it easy for West Indies. Starting with unorthodox Root bowling, and taking 2 wickets upfront. They came back in the game. West Indies lost 3 wickets at powerplay, with 37/3 in 6 overs.

The came back in the game, with the partnership off Marlon Samuels and Bravo. At the end of 14 overs, WI were 86/4 and needed 70 in 36 balls. On other side, wickets got tumbling and Samuels – who was well set on crease picked up the pace.

The equation came down to 19 runs in 6 balls, which West Indies ended with 4 consecutive sixes off Stokes overs from Brathwaite. West Indies won the T20 final by scoring 161/6 in 19.4 overs.
