Azhar Ali: ‘We wanted to win this game and that is why we picked the same team, but the credit has to go Sri Lanka for the way they batted. Yes, we didn’t bat well. We really wanted to win this match and finish it on a high. Unfortunately though, we couldn’t. The highlight of the series was that we played positive cricket, especially as a batting unit. The fielding was exceptional and after a long time we see fielding like this from Pakistan. The coaching staff deserves the credit for motivating the team. The seniors guided the youngsters and the younger players are hungry to do well.’
Angelo Mathews: “Unfortunately the win was a bit too late, the openers set the platform for myself and Milind to go and enjoy out there. We just had to go back to the basics, especially in the bowling department. We had to stick to our lines and lengths. We also worked hard on our fielding and showed an improvement today in that aspect. You need to keep improving your fielding day by day.”
