Shehshan Jayasuriya made 40 runs of 32 balls with 3 fours and a six helped Sri Lanka to set a big target.
Youngster Chimara Kapugedera produced a cameo of 48 runs from just 25 balls at the end of the innings took sri lanka to a match winning total of 172 runs.
Soaib Malik bowled superbly as he took the most 2 wickets from his three overs and gave away only 16 runs.
Anwar Ali, Sohail Tanvir, Mohammad Irfan and Shahid Afridi got a wicket each, while imad wasim bowled just one over and did not got any wicket.
Batting Second and chasing down a huge total of 173 runs Pakistan did not get a good start as Pakistan were 40-5 in 7th over then a 61 run stand between Mohammad Rizwan and Shahid Afridi helped Pakistan to get back on track.
Captain shahid Afridi played a brilliant knock of 45 from 22 balls which include a four and four massive sixes.
Anwar Ali also made 46 runs from 17 balls which include three fours and four massive sixes at the end of the innings.
Even this was not enough hence no 8 batsman Imad wasim took responsiblity and made 24 from 14 balls which consist of two fours and a six.
From the Sri lanka’s bowling Binura Fernando got two wickets while Jayasurya, sirivardana, perera and Malinga got a wicket each.
Afridi: ‘170 was a chasable total, but credit to the Sri Lankan team as their youngsters did well. We panicked at the start but Anwar Ali and Imad Wasim were exceptional with the bat. I believe that I’ve got an excellent bunch of guys, this victory was very important for us. I think the Sri Lankan youngsters will improve as they play more games. I just want to thank the Sri Lankan cricket board for their great hospitality and I would also like to thank the crowd for their support.’
Malik: ‘I am enjoying my cricket and I am getting great support from the team. We’ve been playing some good cricket. I think the exposure I got playing the leagues (referring to T20 leagues around the world) has helped me. Playing for my country has always been by priority though. I am happy to be playing like this and I want to see Pakistan winning more games.’
Malinga: ‘It’s a tough loss for us. I didn’t do well today as well, but the young players have done well and I am happy for them. We have a bright future. I bowled Shehan Jayasuriya because he has a lot of experience bowling under pressure in domestic cricket.’
Anwar Ali: ‘I just tried to play positive cricket. I just watched the ball and played my shots.
