Indian experienced opener Murli Vijay is ruled out of the first test match against Sri Lanka. Indian Team Director Ravi Shastri said that Opener Murli Vijay has not been recovered from the injury hence he will not be able to play in the first test match against Sri Lanka.

The right handed has not recovered from the Hamstring injury he took to the tour, Earlier he (Murli Vijay) was doing practice alone ather than with the team but thet was not enough for him as he is not able to recover from his Hamstring injury.
Opener Lokesh Rahul made his chance count in the absence of Murli Vijay as he made a well deserved century in the practice game and made his place fixed in the first test against Sri Lanka as an opener, Shikhar Dhawan will be onother opner as he too was in good touch in the practice match against President Board 11.
While Murli Vijay was in supreme form as he was the second hieghest run getter after Virat Kohli in test matches against Australia. Team director Shastri feels that his absence can be a big blow for the team as his technique and temprament was one of the best in the cricket world and was mst suitable for test cricket.

“Murali Vijay is still under recovery and we don’t want to take a chance on him for the first Test. Especially with conditions like this (rain on and off). Ground might be slippery,” Ravi Shastri said.
“He’s the in form player, he’s had a fabulous run in Test cricket. He will be missed because he’s an experienced player now,” He Added.
