First day of the First test match was good overall for the indian team as they made a total of 314/6 in 79 overs.
The opening combination was a shocking one as it was Lokesh Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan as the openers instead of Murli Vijay and Dhawan. But the Experiment worked for the Indian team as the opening partnership was a good one for the Indian team as both the openers stiched a partnership of 108 runs.

Shikhar dhawan looked in good touch as he made 62 runs from 102 balls playing with good temprament and connecting the ball well in the middle of the bat while his partner Lokesh Rahul too was looking good as he made 43 of 96 balls.
While No. three and No. Four Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli was unable to perform well as they both was out on 7 and 8 runs respectively.

Indian Youngster Ajinkya Rahane was brilliant again as he made an unbeaten ton of 109 runs from 127 balls.
The new wall of indian cricket Cheteshwar Pujara was sent at no Six instead of three but he performed good even at that position as he scored 42.
