The South African team won the toss and decided to bat and their openers Quinton De Cock and his new opening partner David Miller set up a good opening partnership together as they made a total of 72 run opening stand and put South Africa in a good position.
Miller was the first wicket to fall as he was out on 33 when caught by Rahane on Harbhajan’s ball, However his opening partner made a century who made a total of 103 runs from 118 balls. His innings include 11 fours and a six, he was run out by a brilliant throw from Shikhar Dhawan.
Faf du Plessis was the other batsmen who made a half century as he made a total of 60 runs from 63 balls including 6 fours and supported de cock well from the other end, it also helped SA post a total of 270.
From the part of Indian bowling it was Mohit Sharma who took 2 wickets while other tooks a wicket each except Bhuvneshwar kumar and part timer Suresh Raina. Spinners however controlled the innings as it was good for spinners.
Chasing a total of 271 India did not start of well as they posted a opening stand of just 41 runs but both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli then played well and completed there half century as they made 65 and 77 runs, Indian Captain M.S Dhoni too contributed with his 47 but was unable to took India to the winning point as they choked in between which led to a lot of pressure at the end which the Indian batsman was unable to handle when ch lead to a 18 run loss in the match.
Man of the match Morne Morkel made the most of the damage as he alone took 4 wickets including the wickets of Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, M.S Dhoni and Ajinkya Rahane which led to a 18 run loss.

The hosts India are now 1-2 down in the 5 match series and with 2 to go it became compulsory for the Indian team fo win the next match and stay alive in the series
