Australia vs England 2nd Test 4th day Australia’s awesome bowling performance helped Australia level series 1-1 after thrashing England by 405 runs. England were put to bat in 4th innings after asking to chase a mammoth target of 509 to win at lords where they only managed 103 runs thereby losing from 405 runs in second test match at the home of cricket. England get a bad start as both the opners Adam Lyth and Alastair Cook made just 7 and 11 runs after they fell to Mitchel Starc and Mitchel Johnson respectivly. Both Gary Balance and Ian Bell were not able to recover the England innings as they to contributed just 14 and 11 runs respectivly. Englands run machine didn’t have any answer to the superb delivery from Josh Hazelwood which opend him up went on to hit the stumps. England’s no 9 batsmen Stuart Broad was the top scorer as he managed 25 runs from 17 balls with 4 fours and a six in his innings.
The hosts were outplayed in every department. Steve Smith (215) and (58) was the man of the match silencing his critics, who feared that he lacked the techniqe to play a long innings in England conditons. The aussie vice captain showed a masterclass with his bat as he made his double century in his innings 215 and made a quickfire 58 in the second innings help Australia to give England a mammoth target of 509 runs. Australian bowler Mitchell Johnson grabbed 6 wickets, Josh Hazelwood gets five and Mitchel Starc managed 2 big wickets. Spinner nathon lyon got 3 wickets 1 from the first innings and other 2 from the second innings. Mitchell marsh who came in place of out of form Shane Watson performed well with both bat and ball as he got 2 crucial wickets of Cook and Stokes in the first and one wicket in the second innings.
He olso got Quickfire 27 from 19 balls helping australia to give a timely declaration. Debutant peter Nevill too performed well with both bat and behind the wickets as he made good 45 in first innings and as looking in good touch and done brilliantly with the gloves as he took 7 catches behind the wickets.
